EDITORIAL
The month of September reminds us of the importance of our duties as humanitarian workers and what we owe the most vulnerable members of our society. The month is a culmination of celebrations and rapid interventions due to the sudden flood event that rendered thousands homeless.
The activities for this month started with an international event tagged National Nutrition Week with the theme Nutrition Diet for Everyone. The event took place from 1st – 5th of September and LPF took full part of it with educative posts on all its social media platforms.
The month recorded lots of Birthday Celebrations which included;

9th Sept. Mr. Emmanuel Orubor – Country Director
10th Sept. Yusuf Daniel – Driver
14th Sept. Rebecca John – WASH Assistant
15th Sept. Mrs. Lydia Adams – Executive Director
A few of these celebrations will be summarized here.
On the 9th of September, Mr. Emmanuel Orubor’s Birthday (LPF Country Director) was celebrated. On this date, the Staff and well-wishers of LPF with exhilaration shared well wishes to Mr. Emmanuel in a grand style with a video capturing their wishes from all our implementing locations. Mr. Emmanuel was grateful and expressed his gratitude.
While we were still in celebration mode about the CD’s Birthday, a traumatic event hit Maiduguri on the 10th of September.
Alou Dam collapsed and Maiduguri & Jere being on the runway of the flood was seriously hit, thousands of homes were submerged and lots of people were automatically rendered homeless and vulnerable.
LPF immediately sprang into a Rapid Response to render Humanitarian services to the affected Persons who were camped in various locations.
Amidst the flood event and the rapid response by LPF, staff, and volunteers still took time to celebrate the Executive Directors’ Birthday Mrs. Lydia Adams which took place on the 15th of September.
The WASH program in Bama and Dikwa heightened its activities by commencing major implantation which included;
- Rehabilitation and disinfection of sanitation facilities
- Rehabilitation of boreholes
- Chlorination of water reservoirs
- Desludging of filled-up sanitation facilities
- Activating flood preventive measures
- And WASH services.
21st of September was International Peace Day with the theme “Cultivating a Culture of Peace”. LPF is a strong advocate of Peace at all levels so it keyed into this event and shared messages on all its social media platforms to encourage Peace and harmony in our society.
The nutrition team led by Nutrition Officer Paul Clark carried out a Refresher training for community nutrition mobilizers, nutrition health workers, and nutrition assistants on the 30th of September. 30 persons were in attendance and the training was impactful.
Lastly, the Information and Communication Officer made a trip to Dikwa for a communication support trip from 12th September to 16th September to gather imagery data of field activities for video documentary for of the program.
