VALUES

THEMATIC AREAS/SCOPE OF WORK OF ORGANIZATION

The activities and humanitarian interventions of LPF have majorly been guided within the following thematic areas:

  • Protection: in line with our objectives, we have identified and undertaken lots of activities in this area as seen in the activity table below. Most of the activities covers Protection and Empowerment and we plan to undertake other areas of Protection needs which the region we are working (North-East Nigeria) desperately need.
  • Food Security and Livelihood: as one of the most pressing need/required intervention in the North-east of Nigeria LPF expanded its scope to cover this area and in partnership with the Food Security Sector Working Group (FSSWG) coordinated by the United Nations FAO and WFP.
  • Nutrition: especially children, pregnant and lactating mothers in the face of prolonged unrest often accumulate a high population of malnourishment. We tackle this sector concurrently with Food security with cases of severe Malnutrition mostly referred to affiliate Health care facility.
  • Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH): the need for portable water and prevention of an epidemic in the face of unrest cannot be over emphasized. This is why we deem it necessary to provide material support and enlightenment in this area to tackle possible outbreak.
  • Health: like in any conflict region, disease and illness thrives due to unhealthy living and lack. The need for enlightenment, referral and adequate logistics for emergency cases is high and we are planning to enhance our effort in this area of humanitarian aid.
  • NFIs: like food and water, shelter, and some other non food items form the basic needs of human. We mostly engage in the most important and needed relief material to help build the resilience of beneficiaries.
  • Education: we know that for a complete humanitarian intervention, education remains a very important area; this is so that the effect of the conflict will not totally devastate the life of the community even decades after the unrest. It is so if illiteracy is allowed to overrun a community; thus the need to safe the future of the children.

To achieve effective cover of these sectors, we are presently working on a consortium with CAAHRI a sister local NGO working in Nigeria.
